Useful Information

We hope the information below answers many of the questions you may have about your visit to The Turtley Corn Mill, however we're more than happy to assist you further if you would like to get in touch.

Opening Times

Monday to Saturday; open from 11am until 11:00pm
Sundays;  open from 11am until 10:30pm
Please note that we are an entirely non-smoking site, both inside and outside and only accept card as payment.

Food Service

Our full menu is served daily from 12:00 midday until 9:00pm (9:30pm on Saturdays) although on very busy nights our ability to take orders may end a little earlier.

Children & Minors (U18)

We welcome young people in all areas of the pub up to 7:00pm daily – after 7:00pm they continue to be welcome but only in The Mill Room.  Naturally they are able to use the gardens at all times as long as parents keep a watchful eye on them, this is particularly important around the lake and river banks.  You know what kids and water are like!

Whilst we do not have high chairs we do have plenty of booster seats that strap onto our chairs, these are suitable for little ones from about 12 months upwards.  If you would like to bring your own high chair we will make sure there is plenty of space at your table.  We do not have a specific children’s menu but we do have a number of dishes on our main menu that we can prepare in smaller portions; we are also more than happy to give you an extra plate if you want to share!

Disabled Access

Our pub areas are mostly flat with wide doors making it suitable for wheelchairs and those with limited mobility. A few of our tables are located up some very shallow steps, so if access is a concern for you then please let us know when booking so we can ensure that you are booked onto the most suitable table.

Unfortunately, our bedrooms are not wheelchair accessible.

Dogs

Dogs are very welcome at Turtley anywhere inside the pub apart from the section we call ‘The Library’.  For larger breeds there is plenty of space around the tables in the gardens for them to stretch out. Whilst in the gardens they should always be kept on a lead and whilst outside we must ask you to clean up after your dog. To help you do so we have provided the necessary facilities by the lake and adjacent to the car park.

Unfortunately, we do not allow dogs in the bedrooms in the main building, but we can accomodate one dog in each of the Lakeside Lodges for an additonal charge.

Bookings & Service

We do take bookings, both over the phone and online, but always endeavour to make sure that there is plenty of room for customers who are not able to book in advance.

If you will be accompanied by a four-legged friend, then please let us know when you are booking so we can ensure you are in the right area. Unfortunately we cannot take bookings for anything larger than a labrador (or thereabouts!) as there simply isn’t enough space around the tables!

Group Bookings

The Mill Room at Turtley lends itself beautifully to larger group bookings but we can also cater for smaller groups of friends and family with ease. For groups of 6 or more, we would ask for a deposit to secure your booking, and depending on the number in your group and the date we may also ask for a pre-order. We are happy to talk through your booking with you so please do call us to find out what we can offer.

Whilst we are asked to do so almost daily, we regret that we are unable to accommodate wedding parties as we strive to maintain our pub atmosphere. We would be happy to suggest alternative local venues which you may like to try for your celebration.

Accommodation Bookings

We are happy to take bookings for accommodation over the phone as well as online. If you do have any specific requirements then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

The Garden

The garden and lake areas are, of course, for the enjoyment of our customers only and we would ask that you respect this by only consuming any food or drink purchased from us. All of our site is non-smoking and this includes the gardens and car park.

Walking The Grounds

If you fancy walking off your lunch, or working up an appetite, then as well as wandering around the lake and gardens there is a little track running into a field at the top right hand corner of the car park – a great place to wear out the dogs and/or kids! It’s about a 15 minute walk around the field and alongside the river but bear in mind that it does get muddy so you may need your wellies.

The Lake

We are lucky enough to have a wonderful lake on our grounds and to be bordered by the River Glazebrook. You are welcome to enjoy your drinks around the lake and by the river, although we don’t deliver food to those areas. However, please remember that the water is quite deep and these waterside areas are not supervised by us.  If you are with your kids then you’ll need eyes in the back of your head! Please be respectful of our Lakeside Lodges and always walk behind them.

Wireless Broadband

Wireless Broadband is available throughout the pub. If you would like to make use of this then simply ask your computer to search for the wireless network available, and then select TCMPublic from those that it finds. We are sure you will appreciate that this free WiFi connection is for the casual use of all our customers, it is not intended to provide anyone with a place of work away from their office.  Please be aware that extended use, or using our tables as a temporary office, will not be allowed. With this in mind, laptops are not allowed during lunch service (12pm to 3pm).

Eco Statement

Our impact on the environment cannot go unchecked and we take our responsibilities as a company very seriously. We are not perfect, and do not claim to be, but we are constantly looking at ways to make a difference and are always keen to hear of new ideas that we may be able to adopt. Here are just some of the ways that we have made changes over the last few years.

Plastic straws are banned!! Recyclable paper straws are the only ones we offer now – and whilst we are at it, we will not allow plastic stirrers on our bar either. We have no plastic bottles in our bar fridges and recycle all of the glass, plastic and food waste that we produce.

Our coffee beans come from Voyager Coffee in Buckfastleigh. They are about as local as we can get with extremely low miles from roastery to coffee machine! We choose to use loose leaf tea as much as possible rather than tea bags and use a pergle (very large!) box of milk rather than smaller bottles to reduce the amount of plastic we get through making teas and coffees.

We use recycled ink cartridges from local company Refresh Cartridges, and used cartridges are sent away to be refilled and reused. Finally, takeaway containers and takeaway coffee cups are produced by Vegware who produce plant based compostable foodservice packaging.

In The Accommodation

Firstly, we use refillable toiletries in our rooms. Used Nespresso capsules are all kept and sent back to Nespresso for recycling and while we do use tea bags, we actively source from companies that do not have plastic in their bags enabling us to recycle them along with our food waste.

Our bedding is all washed by The Eco Laundry who actively work to minimise their environmental impact, including by having electric vehicles for the collection and delivery of our laundry.

In other areas of the business, we have left our top field to grow in order to encourage as much wildlife as possible. There is a path cut so guests can still enjoy walking there but for the most part it has become a haven for plants and animals.

We have also switched all of our lightbulbs to LED bulbs.
