Front of House Staff

Working with Brunning Host Ltd means working for a family owned and run company with over twenty years experience in the trade.

As a member of our front of house team, your primary role will be taking orders and delivering food and drinks to the tables. You will also be responsible for clearing tables, and making sure the guests are happy.

In this current climate, it is critical that you hold the highest standards of personal cleanliness. You will also be given full training in our Covid-Safe policies. It would definitely be an advantage to have some front of house experience due to the number of additional considerations at this time. However, the job would suit anyone who is friendly, customer focused and with some common sense and a great work ethic!

In return, we will offer you a great salary and tips, along with a staff discount. There will be both straight and split shifts, so your own transport is essential, and you will need to be within easy driving distance of Avonwick for the same reason.

Please note there will be some compulsory online training to be completed if your trial shift is successful, which supplements the in-house training you will be given on joining.

Chef De Partie

We are looking for experienced Chefs de Partie and/or Senior Chefs de Partie to join our crew at The Bridge at Mount Batten and Turtley Corn Mill in Avonwick.

Our Chefs de Partie undertake key roles in the kitchen and we’re looking for people with good cooking skills and experience of working in a busy, fresh food environment.

You’ll have the opportunity to gain experience working across all areas of the kitchen and will generally be given responsibility to look after a particular section with the help of other chefs. On a daily basis you’ll be supporting the Sous Chefs and Head Chef in a range of duties including fresh food preparation and cooking as well as undertaking kitchen management duties including ordering, stock control and ensuring food safety and cleaning standards are met.

As part of the team, you’ll help develop seasonal menus with a spine of freshly prepared, classic British dishes, complemented by more exotic influences from other parts of the world – in other words, modern British cookery.

Creating a happy working atmosphere is vital to the successful running of the kitchens and comes high on our agenda and so your contribution to creating a friendly and supportive working environment is crucial.

The potential here is enormous and we’re looking for ambitious, creative and committed chefs with a passion for good food who are ready to take the next step in their career. Depending on your experience, as a Chef de Partie or Senior Chef de Partie, we’ll reward you with a starting salary package up to £21,000 per annum plus company benefits dependant on experience.

Sous Chef

We are also looking for a Sous Chef to join the team when we reopen.

A Sous Chef in Brunning Host Limited should have been qualified as a chef for at least 5 years. He should have been exposed to establishments that are used to serving high quality food, promptly, to lots of customers. We would like you to have knowledge of, and experience in stock control, menu preparation, profitability and purchasing. You must have a proven track record of working in a team, under pressure, and of directing staff. Of course, we would expect you to have up to date food hygiene certificates and have a thorough understanding of the monitoring systems required to ensure we maintain the highest standards.
